Your block is
getting cleaned.

The Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition is funding regular cleaning for every block in the neighborhood.

This work is made possible through funding from a Community Benefit Agreement to cover costs for Glitter to clean each of the 54 blocks in the HEC boundaries of South to Washington and Broad to 11th street, one time a month.

Want your block cleaned more often? Find your block and pledge what you can — neighbors pool pledges to add cleanings.

Each cleaning is $50, so if a block raises $50 in pledges that block will get another cleaning.

If your block is already signed-up for Glitter, you can find it on our map and make a pledge today.

A cleaner neighborhood, funded together

The Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition — your Registered Community Organization — covers a baseline of regular cleaning for every block in Hawthorne, from Washington Ave to South Street, S. 11th to S. Broad. Glitter brings the crews and does the work.

Pledges from neighbors stack on top of that baseline to add cleanings — toward weekly. It's pay-what-you-can: a standard block runs about $200/month split among everyone who pledges, and cleanups increase as more neighbors chip in. Month-to-month, cancel anytime

Proud Local,

Living Wage Work

Glitter hires local cleaners—many of whom face barriers to employment—and pays them a living wage to keep our neighborhoods clean. Every block cleaned means more opportunity, more community pride, and a fresh start for those ready to work.

We pay our cleaners significantly more than other cleaning companies because we believe it’s the right thing to do and because we hold our team to the highest standards of cleaning quality and customer service.
